The Vermont Supreme Court wants to reorganize the court system in the
state. It’s a move that could save money and make the judiciary more
efficient, but not everyone agrees that it would be a positive change.
The chief justice of the Vermont Supreme Court says the delivery of
justice in the state is being compromised by budget cuts and an
outdated court system.
The Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court, Paul Reiber, says a
chronic under funding of the state’s judicial system is beginning to have a
serious impact on Vermont’s court
system.
Reiber told a special legislative
panel that he’s projecting a million dollar deficit in this
year’s budget. And Reiber says there are no easy ways to deal with the shortfall.
