The dream of restoring
modern freight and passenger service along Vermont’s Western
rail corridor could get a jump start, if transportation officials succeed in their bid for $100 million in Federal stimulus money for rail projects.
state says it will have to wait until fall to purchase new, fuel efficient
passenger rail cars.
the reason for the delay is unclear. The state says it wants guidance from a
special committee chaired by the state treasurer. But the treasurer says the
Legislature has already approved the deal.
