VPR’s Bob Kinzel talks with Senator Patrick Leahy and the head of the Vietnam Veterans of Americal Foundation about efforts to persuade President Obama to sign an international treaty to ban landmines.
Senator
Patrick Leahy is stepping up his efforts to persuade President Obama to
sign an
international treaty to ban the production and use of landmines. Leahy says it would help re-establish the country’s moral standing
throughout the world.
Speaking
on the Senate floor, Leahy said he’s disappointed that the administration has
decided not to join an international treaty to ban the use of land mines.
