The nation’s governors say they welcome the
money flowing to states from President Obama’s landmark stimulus plan and are
playing down disagreements among some Republicans in their ranks about how the
dollars should be spent.

new health and human services nominee now that Tom Daschle has withdraw his
nomination.
Governor Jim Douglas says he’ll encourage President-elect Barack Obama to
consider increasing support for Medicaid and transportation projects. Douglas will meet with Obama on Tuesday at the National
Governors Association meeting.

Douglas and his counterparts in other states are calling on Congress to act
soon on an economic recovery package that includes additional funding for
Medicaid and infrastructure projects.
