officials say hundreds of people could lose their unemployment
benefits if Congress fails to avert the so-called fiscal cliff. The federal
unemployment insurance program that has been providing additional weeks of
benefits to the long-term unemployed is set to expire.

Vermont’s Congressional delegation is pleased and relieved that
the Supreme Court upheld President Barack Obama’s health care law, including
the mandate that all Americans have health insurance or pay a fine.
Vermont’s Congressional delegation expressed relief at Thursday’s Supreme Court
ruling, hoping to now focus on
the implementation of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act without the cloud of legal uncertainty.
