went to the polls yesterday. And it was a good day for Democrats in Vermont. Democrats won all the statewide races, except for
Lieutenant Governor, Phil Scott will continue to hold that post And Independent
Bernie Sanders will continue to be U.S. Senator. Retired Middlebury College Political

all but two towns reporting in the Essex-Orleans district, returns show former Representative John Rodgers of Glover taking a seat vacated by Republican
Senator Vince Illuzzi.
Lt. Governor Phil Scott is the
sole Republican to win a statewide office in Vermont
this year. Scott easily defeated Cassandra
Gekas, who ran as both a Democrat and a Progressive.
Incumbent Democratic Treasurer Beth Pearce has won a
solid victory over her Republican challenger Wendy Wilton. Many political observers thought this race was going
to be very close, but in the end, Pearce won by a margin of roughly ten
percentage points.
Election
night was a tough one for Republicans in Vermont – from the top of the ticket to the bottom. Voters
chose to move forward with Democrats in all races but one.
