Vt. Senate Nixes Plastic Bag Ban, Bottle Bill Expansion

The Vermont Senate has backed away from a ban on plastic bags and has decided not to expand the state’s bottle bill. The votes came after the Senate engaged in a lengthy debate that touched on the power of beverage industry lobbyists and the benefits of universal recycling.

Bottle Deposit Law Comes Up For Debate

A question about whether Vermont should expand its bottle deposit law is coming up for discussion at the Statehouse. A tri-partisan coalition of senators says the answer is "yes".  But Governor Peter Shumlin disagrees.
