All-terrain vehicles in Vermont will no longer be allowed on state land. The Agency of Natural Resources is repealing a rule that permits ATVs on public land because it says the state doesn’t have enough resources to enforce against illegal activity.
Burlington Free Press reporter Candace Page says despite a decision by the Shumlin administration to back away from allowing limited use of ATVs on state lands, a trail in Island Pond will be permitted.
Governor Shumlin has tapped Chuck Ross as Secretary of Agriculture, citing his experience as a farmer, legislator and aide to Senator Patrick Leahy. Shumlin says he wants to invest in infrastructure and aggressively market Vermont food products.
