A popular Southern Vermont whitewater event won’t take place this spring. Paddlers are upset that the dam release on the West River in Jamaica – usually the last weekend in April — was scrapped due to a policy change.

Agency finds wind farm could hurt bear habitat

A wind project planned for national forest land in southern Vermont would supply needed clean energy for the region, but could also harm bear habitat. Those are among the findings in a Draft Environmental Impact Statement released this week by the Forest Service. VPR’s John Dillon reports:

Some state officials were relieved when the Environmental Protection Agency announced new limits for ozone pollution. Vermont was still below the limits and avoided federal sanctions.
