From the early to mid 1960’s Berry Gordy’s Motown Record Company grew to be a major player in the world of contemporary popular music. With this success, Gordy envisioned his "Sound Of Young America" as a major force in international markets, and with that in mind, he had his top recording artists re-record a number of their domestic hit singles in foreign languages for distribution overseas.
