Live Friday at Noon: Black Kids & Does it Offend You, Yeah?

Formed in 2006, Black Kids didn’t take long to attract the attention of
nationally known music blogs, backing up the praise with breakout performances
at the Athens Popfest. The band’s digital-only Wizard of Ahhhs EP was
a sleeper hit, marked by coed harmonies, layered keyboards, lo-fi guitars, and
R&B-seasoned songs. "I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance
with You" was a U.K.
chart hit and a sleeper here, helping the band land considerable press
attention along the way.

As its name suggests, opening act Does It Offend You, Yeah? doesn’t take
itself terribly seriously: The British electro-rock band infuses its ambitious
and chaotic music with bass slaps, cowbells, and signifiers of ’80s pop, not to
mention healthy doses of electronic screeching. A go-to remixer for the likes
of Muse and Bloc Party, the band makes music suitable for ravers and rockers
alike.
