This time of year, VPR features a few holiday stories to warm your heart. On Christmas Eve, hear "Favor Johnson," Willem Lange’s tale of a hound names Hercules, a flatlander doctor, homemade fruitcake and the real spirit of Christmas.
On Christmas Day, Willem Lange offers another story, "Rona and Alice," which tells of two women whose shared experience leads to a connection that makes a difficult Christmas a little easier. That’s followed by Grace Paley’s reading of her story, "The Loudest Voice." It’s about an outspoken little Jewish girl who is asked to narrate the school’s Christmas play.
