In 1956 former President Harry S. Truman gave a piano to his newly married daughter, Margaret Truman Daniel. It remained in her New York City apartment until the year she died, 2008. It has since been donated to the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association.
At 11 this morning, we’ll speak with Margaret’s youngest son, Thom Daniel, about the piano and how it came to Vermont; and we’ll hear Arthur DeQuasie play Debussy’s Claire de lune on it.
The piano will be dedicated at a special concert Wednesday evening.
