Morning Classics: A Historied Day

Print More

Interesting day in history, Nov. 11th: in 1918, World War I came to an end when the Allies and Germany signed an armistice; in 1921, the Tomb of the Unknowns was dedicated at
Arlington Cemetery by President Harding; and in 1938 Kate Smith first
sang her iconic version of Irving Berlin’s God Bless America on network radio. This morning we’ll hear the Dale Warland Singers in the Pilgrim’s Hymn by Stephen Paulus, noting another Nov. 11th landmark: the signing of the Mayflower Compact, on this day in 1620.
